Hey everyone,
Fred's surgery is scheduled for 7:30 a.m. tomorrow Friday September 1. As I said last night it is expected to last three hours. Let's keep Fred and Denise in our prayers. That they would have a good nights sleep tonight. Wisdom and skill for the doctor and his entire staff. A rapid recovery for Fred, protection from side effects and peace that God is in control. Safe travel and protection over the children and their house and cars and all such things. I will send out an update as soon as I get back from Ann Arbor tomorrow if I am not able to send one out from Ann Arbor. Thank you all for your continued support of Fred and family.

Hey everyone,
I just talked to Denise again. Here is the plan as it stands right now. Fred will be having surgery Friday to remove the two lymph nodes that are cancerous in his neck. This will be done in Ann Arbor as his tonsillectomy was done. They won't know the time of the surgery until tomorrow afternoon, I will let you all know as soon as I do. After this surgery they will decide for sure whether or not that if Fred will have to have chemo with the radiation. These treatments will start about three weeks after this surgery. And last for seven weeks. I will be going with them to Ann Arbor again to be with Denise and help them in any way I can.
Fred's mother June is coming to Kalamazoo tomorrow to help with the kids and Fred's recovery. They expect that Fred will be in the hospital for three to five days. The surgery will take about three hours. There are a lot of nerves in that part of the neck so it is a tricky surgery, but the doctor has done this type of surgery and believes he can do it with little to no lasting adverse effects. There are however some possible temporary effects. Some of the effects could last as long as six months after the surgery. The side effects could be a slight droop in Fred's smile on one side, some limited motion in his shoulder and other things of that nature.
I will send an update as soon as I can on Friday.
Here are the prayer requests for today. First, as always, that God will heal Fred completely. That the Surgeon would be skillful and that Fred would not suffer any side effects. That June would arrive safely tomorrow without any trouble. Continued wisdom for the entire medical staff and Fred and Denise as they make medical decisions. That Fred and Denise would continue to have restful nights. Protection over the kids, the house, travel to and from the hospital and their hearts and minds that they would hold on to God's promises. That Fred would not suffer any infection or abnormal pain, that he would come through this surgery strong and with a quick recovery like he did with the last surgery. Lift theses requests and anything the spirit leads you to pray for Fred, Denise and family.
Your prayers make a difference, Fred and Denise can feel the love all around them, Our Father in heaven is listening and will answer our prayers.
A Prayer of David.
1 Bow down Your ear, O LORD, hear me;
For I am poor and needy.
2Preserve my life, for I am holy;
You are my God;
Save Your servant who trusts in You!
3Be merciful to me, O Lord,
For I cry to You all day long.
4Rejoice the soul of Your servant,
For to You, O Lord, I lift up my soul.
5For You, Lord, are good, and ready to forgive,
And abundant in mercy to all those who call upon You.
6Give ear, O LORD, to my prayer;
And attend to the voice of my supplications.
7In the day of my trouble I will call upon You,
For You will answer me.
8Among the gods there is none like You, O Lord;
Nor are there any works like Your works.
9All nations whom You have made
Shall come and worship before You, O Lord,
And shall glorify Your name.
10For You are great, and do wondrous things;
You alone are God.
11Teach me Your way, O LORD;
I will walk in Your truth;
Unite my heart to fear Your name.
12I will praise You, O Lord my God, with all my heart,
And I will glorify Your name forevermore.
13For great is Your mercy toward me,
And You have delivered my soul from the depths of Sheol.
14O God, the proud have risen against me,
And a mob of violent men have sought my life,
And have not set You before them.
15But You, O Lord, are a God full of compassion, and gracious,
Longsuffering and abundant in mercy and truth.
16Oh, turn to me, and have mercy on me!
Give Your strength to Your servant,
And save the son of Your maidservant.
17Show me a sign for good,
That those who hate me may see it and be ashamed,
Because You, LORD, have helped me and comforted me.
Psalm 86
Right now the enemy is cancer, but God is bigger and more powerful than cancer.
"You can take an empty cup and go to the kitchen faucet to get a drink. You can stand there all day, knowing the water is there, but you will never get one drop in your cup until you reach out and turn the faucet. It's putting impetus to our prayer. We can pray for years and not see much happen. But when we learn to turn our prayers on by believing God, we will see what great things He can do in and through us."
Hope Macdonald
I say we open the faucet of our belief in God wide open and See just what He will do. Keep praying, jack

Hey everyone,
I just got done talking with Denise. Praise God! They did indeed fine the source cancer in the tonsil. The doctor did remove enough tissue around the tonsil. They were given two choices in curses of treatment. Their heads a spinning with all the information they were given today. Pray that they would find clarity of mind to make the right choice. That they wouldn't be overtaken with fear as they think about possible side effects. We are going to talk a little later this evening and at that time I will send you a more in-depth report and prayer requests.

Please keep up the vigorous prayer it is making a difference, jack

Hey everybody,
Just a reminder that Fred and Denise will be going to Ann Arbor tomorrow to meet with the doctor. This will be Fred’s first time talking with the doctor since the surgery. The appointment is at 3:30 p.m. They will be getting the pathology report and treatment plan.
Let’s keep up the prayer for them. Pray that the tonsil was the primary cancer. Pray that Fred doesn’t need chemo. Pray for safe travel to and from Ann Arbor. Pray for continued wisdom for all the medical staff. Ask God to continue to heal Fred up from the surgery. Grant Fred and Denise continued restful sleep. That they would have continued peace and confidence that God’s will for them is complete healing.
Accept my prayer as incense offered to you, and my upraised hands as an evening offering. Psalm 141:2
“There is nothing that makes us love a man so much as praying for him.” William Law
Lets love Fred, Denise and family this evening, jack
I will send out the results of their meeting with the doctor as soon as Fred calls me with the details.

Hey everyone,
I stopped in to check on Fred on my way home today. I am glad to tell you that he is doing well. He said that it is easier to eat food than it is to drink liquids. He isn't really hungry, but is eating because he knows he need to in order to get well quicker.
His spirits are high.
He has an appointment with the surgeon on Wednesday afternoon, to get the pathology report and treatment plan.
Let's keep up the prayer cover. Let's keep up the praise to our God. Keep asking for a complete healing, peace, joy and confidence in God's good will for Fred, Denise, and family. Remember to lift up each of them Josiah, Hannah, Nate, Abby, EJ, Sam, Ben, Lydia, Arron, and Ethan. Ask God to met each of them right where they are today and minister to their needs. Father place the right people in the right palace at the right time for each of them to lift them up and listen to their hearts and bring them your grace.
Every prayer is making a difference in each of their lives.
"God doesn't demand that we pray in King James English, or even with eloquence. Every feeble, stumbling prayer uttered by a believer is heard by God."
Billy Graham
So have a talk with God. He's listening. jack
